Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.
This week, I’m waiting on We Were Liars by E. Lockhart which has an expected publication date of May 13, 2014.
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth. We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
I absolutely adore E. Lockhart’s writing, since her characters are so quirky and loveable, so this book is on my automatically-buy list. And, seriously, how wonderful does that synopsis sound? Lies and deception and secrets and mysteries are always so much fun to read about, and if they’re done in typical Lockhart style, they’ll be intriguing and clever too. Can it be May now?

Agreed! After reading the Ruby Oliver books, it’ll be really interesting to see how dark her writing can be. Waiting on Wednesday is such a good way to add to your to-read list, so I hope you find a lot of books that pique your interest! 😀
E. Lockhart is awesome and I’ve seen so much love for this book everywhere that it can’t possibly be bad! Excellent pick! Thank you so much for sharing!
I fell in love with her writing after reading The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, and now she’s on my auto-read/auto-buy lists. I’m really excited about it, so hopefully it’s as good as everyone says! : )
