2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week’s topic is “2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To.” I was trying to read more backlist titles in 2021, which means that there are a ton of 2021 releases on my TBR for this year. Here are just 10 of the ones I’m most excited to read:

ExtraOrdinary by V.E. Schwab
Vicious is one of my all-time favourite books. Once I do a reread of it, I will immediately dive into this companion story.

Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
This sold me on it really quickly: “Pacific Rim meets The Handmaid’s Tale in a polyamorous reimagining of China’s only female emperor.”

She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan
This was compared to The Poppy War in a review, so naturally, I need to read it.

The Last Legacy by Adrienne Young
I really enjoyed both Fable and Namesake, so I can’t wait to be back in that world in this new story!

As Good as Dead by Holly Jackson
I’ve been enjoying the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, but I’ve heard this one gets really dark. I need to do a refresher on what went down n the first two books before diving into this.

Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe
I’ve heard this is one of the best Hades/Persephone retellings out there. I’ve been meaning to read more graphic novels, so this is the perfect starting point for that!

Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune
I finally read The House in the Cerulean Sea last fall and thought it was very sweet, so I need this next wholesome book in my life!

Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean
This was described as The Princess Diaries meets Crazy Rich Asians, which sounds like the most fun kind of read.

You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao
I still have an unread e-ARC of this (whoops) but I’m saving it for when I need a good cry.

The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe
I desperately need to read this before the movie adaptation comes out because I love anything to do with con artists.

What 2021 releases are on your 2022 reading list?
