Top Ten Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week’s topic is “top ten most anticipated book releases for the first half of 2020.” I’m trying to read more backlist titles this year, but I’ve slowly been compiling a list of 2020 releases I want to read. Here are 10 of the ones I’m hopefully going to get to this year:

Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore (14 January 2020)
Anna-Marie McLemore has such lyrical and enchanting writing. After how much I loved both When the Moon Was Ours and The Weight of Feathers, they are a must-read author.

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord (21 January 2020)
As someone who spends way too much time on Twitter and also manages corporate social media accounts, this book sounds like it was made for me.

The King of Crows by Libba Bray (04 February 2020)
The Diviners is one of my all-time favourite series, so to say that I’ve been impatiently waiting on this one for years is a massive understatement. I just need to know how it ends!

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace (04 February 2020)
A high fantasy with pirates where romance isn’t the main focus? Sign me up! Early reviews look excellent, so I can’t wait to pick this one up.

The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa de la Cruz (04 February 2020)
Fantasy novels featuring assassins are one of my literary weaknesses, so I can’t wait for this one.

The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu (03 March 2020)
The Young Elites series was so wonderfully dark, and I’m eager to see if there’s any of that in this new Mozart-inspired fantasy. And just look at that cover!

Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco (03 March 2020)
After a rocky start, I really ended up enjoying The Bone Witch series. I love the idea of fairytales actually impacting history, so I can’t wait to see where this goes!

The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutoski (03 March 2020)
This blurb alone was enough to sell me: “an epic LGBTQ romantic fantasy about learning to free ourselves from the lies others tell usβ€”and the lies we tell ourselves.”

The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant (02 June 2020)
Les Mis + The Jungle Book is such a strange combination that I just need to see how it’s pulled off! Also, Eponine as the main character? I didn’t know how much I wanted this until now.

Where Dreams Descend by Janelle Angeles (02 June 2020)
This has been pitched as “Phantom of the Opera meets Moulin Rouge” and it involves duelling magicians. Everything I love, all in one.

What are your most anticipated new releases for the first half of 2020?
