Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.
This week’s topic is “top ten favourite places to read.” I love the aesthetic of cozy reading nooks and desperately need to build one for my home; until then, here are some of that places that I do the most reading.
In Bed
I don’t do a lot of reading before bed – I’ll say just one more chapter enough times that, all of a sudden, it’s 3am and I’m finished my book. I love to read in bed on weekend mornings when I wake up early, though. It’s so cozy and warm and full of pillows.
On the Couch
My couch is right near a window, so it’s the perfect place to curl up on sunny days or during thunderstorms.
The Park
If you follow me on Instagram, this one will come as no surprise! I love taking my big red picnic blanket out to one of the parks nearby and just laying on it with a book until I’ve finished reading or need to go have dinner.
The Beach
I haven’t been to the beach yet this summer because knee/ankle injuries have kept me close to home, but normally I’d pack 2-3 books into my beach bag and spend all day reading in the sun.
Cute Cafés
I can’t say no to pretty latte art, and sipping on one while reading a good book makes it even sweeter. Right now, I’m partial to Found Coffee‘s cozy seating, and I’m hoping to visit the garden patio at Café 23 this week.
Cocktail Bars
Reading at the bar is surprisingly relaxing! There’s a literary-themed bar nearby that I’ve been wanting to visit for ages called Famous Last Words, and they hold book trivia nights and host book clubs.
Toronto Reference Library
I think this is such a pretty space, and there’s no shortage of seating. It was my go-to when I worked in Yorkville and wanted to sneak in a few chapters during my lunch break.
In Front of the Fireplace
My parents have a fireplace in their basement, and whenever I visit around Christmastime, I love to sit in front of the fire with a book, cozy reading socks, and a cup of hot cocoa.
Where are your favourite places to read?
I miss reading in cafes so much!

I love to read in the park, but every time I sit down I always have a pretty bug or two bothering me, lol. I usually find better-uninteruppted reading time on a patio for some reason.
