Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2021

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week’s topic is “most anticipated releases of the second half of 2021.” This year has already had so many incredibly releases, and the second half is already looking just as bright. Here are 10 of the ones I need to read ASAP:

A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee (August 3)
A dark, twisty, atmospheric thriller about a boarding school haunted by its history of witchcraft and two girls dangerously close to digging up the past. I can’t wait to read this!

As Good as Dead by Holly Jackson (August 5)
I couldn’t put down A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder or its sequel, so I am very curious where Pip’s story is going to go next.

Phantom Heart by Kelly Creagh (August 17)
Nevermore by Kelly Creagh was one of my favourite books back when I first started blogging, so when I saw that she was coming out with a new book inspired by Phantom of the Opera, I knew I had to read it.

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang (August 31)
I absolutely adored The Kiss Quotient, so I’m hoping that I’ll love this just as much (unlike The Bride Test).

Beautiful World Where Are You by Sally Rooney (September 7)
I may be in the minority of people who just couldn’t get into Normal People, but if this is anything like Conversations with Friends, I’m sure to enjoy it. And that cover!!

The Lost Girls by Sonia Hartl (September 14)
The premise of this is amazing: John Tucker Must Die, but with a feminist girl gang of vampires.

When Night Breaks by Janella Angeles (October 5)
Where Dreams Descend was one of my favourite reads of 2020, and I can’t need to know what happens next in this Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge-inspired series.

ExtraOrdinary by V.E. Schwab (October 12)
Vicious is one of my favourite books of all time: I own 3 different editions, have read it 284028 times, and have forced all of my friends to read it. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that I will be running to the nearest Indigo as soon as ExtraOrdinary comes out, since I need more Victor in my life. (He’s not the main focus of this comic… but still!)

Gilded by Marissa Meyer (November 2)
After The Lunar Chronicles, I will read every single retelling Marissa Meyer writes. This one is based off of Rumplestiltskin, and the synopsis makes it sound very dark and ominous.

You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao (November 2)
Heartbroken after her boyfriend Sam’s death, Julie calls his cell phone to hear his voice one last time—but he picks up, giving them a second chance at goodbye. This is going to completely shatter my heart, so thankfully I have a few months to emotionally prepare myself for it!

What books are you looking forward to reading in the second half of 2021?
