Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.
This week’s topic is a Spring Cleaning freebie. My to-read list on Goodreads sits at just over 1000 books, many of which I don’t even recognize or remember adding to my list. Here are 10 that I’m planning to read this year, which have been sitting on my TBR since I first started blogging in 2013.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This was never assigned in my high school English classes, but is a book that everyone seems to have read. I’ve been meaning to read more classics, so this seems like a good starting place!
Unnatural Creatures by Neil Gaiman
After reading Anansi Boys, I immediately added all of Neil Gaiman’s other works to my TBR. I recently learned that this is an anthology that he curated, but that he didn’t write all of the stories in it; knowing that Maria Dahvana Headley is featured in this has definitely made me want to bump it up my reading list!
Oblivion by Kelly Creagh
Nevermore, a YA paranormal inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s works, was one of my favourite books when I was in high school. Maybe one day I’ll do a proper re-read so I can actually finish the series.
Doll Bones by Holly Black
I loved Holly Black’s Modern Faerie Tales series so much that I fully intended to read everything else she ever wrote. I had honestly forgotten all about Doll Bones until now, but this spooky, middle grade book is definitely one that I need to read next Halloween.
Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
When I first started blogging, this book was recommended to me by everyone. I held off on reading it because of that hype; now that a lot of time has passed, I am looking forward to picking it up.
The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson
Yet another series that I started, enjoyed, and… did not finish. I don’t remember much, beyond it being tied to Jack the Ripper, so the series could make for a good October read!
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Whenever I’ve mentioned Graceling or Grave Mercy, this has come up as a must-read. Almost all of my Goodreads friends have given it 4 or 5 stars, so hopefully I’ll get around to it soon!
Winterspell by Clare Legrand
Every Christmas, I tell myself that I’m going to read this Nutcracker retelling… and every Christmas I get distracted by new releases. Maybe this year will finally be its year!
The Falconer by Elizabeth May
Occasionally, when I’m scrolling through Twitter, I see a tweet by Elizabeth May that makes me think ‘you know, I really should read her books sometime.’ This series only wrapped up in 2017, so I’m not that late to reading it… right?
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
The ‘Oceans Eleven mixed with Robin Hood’ comparison drew me in, but the rave reviews made me a bit nervous to pick it up when it was first published. With the 4th book in the series coming out this year, now is the perfect time for a binge-read!
What books have been on your TBR for ages? Have you read any of the ones on my list?
I had The Lies of Locke Lamora on my TBR for the longest time. I finally listened to the audiobook last year and really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to continuing with the series.

If you do read it, I hope you love it!
I really like the Shades of London series. It’s a good one, but I feel like Johnson never finished it? Or maybe I never finished it? Who knows, LOL.
Happy TTT!

Lies of Locke Lamora is on my list this week, too! I had it sitting on my shelves for years and years, and have finally decided to give it a go based on a recommendation from a friend. 🙂
The only one on this list that I’ve read is The Great Gatsby and imo it’s so overrated! I found it quite boring!
Oh The Lies of Locke Lamora has been languishing on my TBR for so long!
These are my Spring feel books, all written by outstanding women writers for International Women’s Day.
