Top Ten Contemporary Romances On My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week’s topic is a Valentine’s Day/love freebie. I love love and the happily-ever-after that romance novels leave you with, so here are 10 of the contemporary romances that I can’t wait to read this year:

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
The synopsis reminded me a bit of Red, White & Royal Blue. Enemies-to-lovers and fake dating are two of my favourite tropes, so I’m sure I’ll love this.

Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe
I’ve heard such good things about Ben Philippe’s books, and this one sounds incredibly charming. I mean, look at that cover!

The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre by Robin Talley
A stage manager who dooms the school productions whenever she falls for someone in the cast! All the Les Miz references! This sounds like such a fun read.

Much Ado About You by Samantha Young
Moving to England, working in a bookstore, and falling in love – that’s the dream, really, and I’m excited to live vicariously through this book.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
This comes out in exactly one month! Get a Life, Chloe Brown was one of my favourite reads of 2020 so I can’t wait to dive into her sister Eve’s book – I’m sure it will be just as charming and filled with banter!

People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry
I absolutely loved Beach Read. I didn’t realize that Emily Henry had a 2021 release, as well, and People We Meet on Vacation sounds like it has everything I love: friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, the only one bed trope, snappy dialogue.

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne
I didn’t love 99 Percent Mine when I read it last year, but I am very curious to see if this one will hold the same magic as The Hating Game (which is still one of my go-to romance recommendations).

Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle
You Deserve Each Other was easily one of the best books I read in 2020 so I was so excited to see that Sarah Hogle had another book coming out this year. Twice Shy sounds like a very sweet, slow-burn romance, and the early reviews are all stellar.

Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler
I was just approved for an e-ARC of this on Netgalley and I yelled when the email came through. This is the bi romance that I’ve been waiting for – the line if she’s finally got the guy, why can’t she stop thinking about the girl? has been running on loop in my head since I read the synopsis.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
After how much I loved Red, White & Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston is an a must-read author for me. I’ve already read some very positive reviews of One Last Stop so I’m impatiently counting down until June, when it’s finally released.

What contemporary romances are you looking forward to reading this year?
