Top Ten Non-YA Books On My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week is a freebie, where we get to come up with our own topic. When I first started blogging, 99% of what I read were YA titles. While I still love YA a lot, I have been trying to branch out more with my reading, so here are 10 non-YA titles that I’m excited to read.

No Filter: The Inside Story of Instagram by Sarah Frier
I attended a Zoom interview with Sarah Frier and Casey Newton from The Interface about this book, and I’m excited to get the inside scoop on how much Instagram changed after Facebook acquired it.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
I loved The Grisha series, but haven’t read any of her other works. I’ve heard that Ninth House is very dark, but very good, and it will be my first urban fantasy read in a long time.

Sex & Vanity by Kevin Kwan
My library hold for this is ready for pickup this week and I’m so excited! I couldn’t get enough of the drama in Crazy Rich Asians, so I can’t wait to read this.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
Lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers sounds wildly dramatic and entertaining, and I’m so curious about how that will play out.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow
This was recommended to me as a must-read since I loved The Starless Sea. I like anything that is an ode to words, and adding in a magical portal to the mix more than ensures that I’ll give it a read.

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
This has been recommended to me countless times by friends with all sorts of reading preferences. I’ve been told that it’s very dark and will likely wreck me, so as soon as I’m emotionally prepared, I will give it a read.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
I really enjoyed Uprooted, so I really need to read this — especially since she has a new book coming out soon that I also will need to read!

The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel
I recently read Station Eleven, which is one of the most beautiful (and surprisingly hopeful) books I’ve read this year. I adored the writing style, so I need to read her newest release.

The Skin We’re In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power by Desmond Cole
This powerful examination of anti-Black racism in Canada looks like a must-read for all Canadians.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
“Lovecraft meets the Brontës in Latin America” is such a compelling description. I haven’t read a true Gothic novel in a while, so I’m very much looking forward to this one.

Which non-YA books are on your TBR? Have you read any of the ones on my list?
