Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.

This week’s topic is “Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020.” While I’m focusing mostly on reading backlist titles this year, there are quite a few new releases that I have my eye on. Here are 10 of the ones that I’m most excited about, in order of their release date.

Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power (July 7, 2020)
I haven’t read a proper thriller in ages, but this one sounds like it’ll be filled with lots of twists and turns.

Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust (July 7, 2020)
A princess cursed to be poisonous to the touch is neat on its own, but the original fairytale inspired by Persian mythology aspect makes it something I need to pick up.

Ghost Wood Song by Erica Waters (July 14, 2020)
Calling ghosts from the grave using a fiddle is such a neat premise. This sounds like the perfect Southern Gothic.

Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar (August 11, 2020)
A combination of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust and Hindi mythology sounds like it will make for a very intriguing read. The cover is also gorgeous!

Where Dreams Descend by Janelle Angeles (August 25, 2020)
The synopsis for this reminded me a lot of The Night Circus, and it’s also described as Phantom of the Opera meets Moulin Rouge. I desperately need this book in my life.

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik (September 29, 2020)
I loved Uprooted, and while I still haven’t read Spinning Silver yet, I already know I’ll read any of her new releases. A magical school where failure means death sounds like an excellent place to start with that.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab (October 6, 2020)
I will read anything V.E. Schwab writes. Doubly so when the story is about a French girl who falls in love with the Devil.

A Golden Fury by Samantha Cohoe (October 13, 2020)
Ambitious alchemists creating the Philosopher’s Stone in 18th century Europe would have sold me on its own, but the fact that the alchemists are women makes it even better.

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer (November 3, 2020)
This sounds like such fun! A girl who can cast karma (good and bad) on those around her hold such promise for misadventures.

How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black (November 24, 2020)
I really enjoyed bingeing The Folk of the Air series, so I’ll happily read a peek into Cardan’s innermost thoughts.

Which new releases are you looking forward to? Have you read any of the ones on my list?
