Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, she posts an idea relating to books and encourages other book bloggers to respond with their own top ten lists.
This week’s topic is “top ten books that will make you cry.” I’m a very emotional person, so there a lot of books that made me feel all the things and there are just as many that made me cry. While I can’t guarantee you’ll cry when reading any of the books on this list, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that these stories will tug on your heartstrings a little bit.
I’m not going to say anything about why these books made me cry, since I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who haven’t read them. I have reviewed several of them, though, if you’re interested in reading my spoiler-free thoughts.
What books have made you cry recently? Leave me a list or a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post below.
Tell The Wolves I’m Home just missed making it on to my list this week! What a wonderful book . . .
I had no idea what to expect from it when I first started, but it quickly found a place in my heart (and on my favourites list).
Oh boy, I really identify with being the emotional type. The last book I read that made me cry was Music For Torching by A. M Homes. It was funny and screwed up until just about the last page. Then it suddenly became a real heartbreaker.
My roommates occasionally look at me as if I’m crazy when I sit there and cry over a book, so I’m glad I’m not the only one! I may just have to add that one to my reading list.
My students are reading The Book Thief right now. I’m so happy it’s made so many of these lists because maybe it will reach them as well. One of them did ask yesterday, “Are we going to read that book?”
I really hope they enjoy it – but more than that, I hope that this wonderfully heartbreaking book resonates with at least one of them.
