Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.
This week, I’m waiting on The Body Electric by Beth Revis, which is set to be published in October 2014.
Ella Shepherd has dedicated her life to using her unique gift—the ability to enter people’s dreams and memories using technology developed by her mother—to help others relive their happy memories.
But not all is at it seems.
Ella starts seeing impossible things—images of her dead father, warnings of who she cannot trust. Her government recruits her to spy on a rebel group, using her ability to experience—and influence—the memories of traitors. But the leader of the rebels claims they used to be in love—even though Ella’s never met him before in her life. Which can only mean one thing…
Someone’s altered her memory.
Ella’s gift is enough to overthrow a corrupt government or crush a growing rebel group. She is the key to stopping a war she didn’t even know was happening. But if someone else has been inside Ella’s head, she cannot trust her own memories, thoughts, or feelings.
So who can she trust?
I loved the Across the Universe series, so I’m incredibly excited to give The Body Electric a try – especially if what I’ve heard about Amy and Elder making brief appearances is true. The whole idea of entering peoples’ dreams and altering memories reminds me a bit of Inception or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and that gorgeous cover needs to be on my bookshelf ASAP.
Which books are you waiting on? Leave me a link or a list to your Waiting on Wednesday post below.
This one looks really good! And the cover is gorgeous too! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Here’s my WoW!
It’s one of those books that I desperately want to own because of the gorgeous cover. 🙂
Thanks for the link!
Across the universe has been on my TBR list for a while now and i’m bummed that i haven’t read it yet. Hopefully i can get to it soon!
Here’s our WoW
Nemo @ Blame it on the Book
I hope you get around to reading it — I thought that it was quite good! 🙂
Ohh! I didn’t realise Beth Revis had another book on the way! I’ve read Across the Universe, but haven’t continued on with the trilogy just yet. I think I’ll be continuing on with A Million Suns sooner than I thought 😀 Thanks for sharing!
Alma @ Journey Through Fiction
I just found out about it recently! I’m fairly certain that it’s a standalone, but I’ve heard that some hints of Amy and Elder’s story can be seen if you look closely (though I’m sure I’ll miss it on my read-through).
I hope you enjoy the rest of the trilogy! 🙂
I haven’t read her books but this does sound pretty good! I hope you enjoy it!
My WoW.
Thanks, I’m really excited for it! Happy reading! (:
