September 2021: Monthly Wrap-Up

I don’t know about you, but September seems to have flown by: I feel like I blinked and, all of a sudden, Halloween is only 4 weeks away. Though that could also be because my September wasn’t the most eventful, with all my concerts being cancelled and rainy days that had me napping throughout the afternoon.

As always, I spent most of my weekends thrifting and checking out vintage stores around Toronto. I finally visited Balfour Books this month, and it was a book lover’s dream — cloth-bound books on display, bookshelves that reached the ceiling, and cozy reading chairs.

READING PROGRESS

I read 5 books in September, including my first audiobook! I’ve gotten really into podcasts lately, thanks to the Theranos trial, so a non-fiction audiobook was the perfect baby step towards incorporating audiobooks into my day-to-day reading life.

BOOKSTAGRAM

I didn’t post much on IG this month, because I finally started a BookTok!

BOOK PURCHASES/FROM PUBLISHERS

HCC Frenzy sent me ARCs of All These Bodies by Kendare Blake and Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat. These sound like the perfect fall reads, so I can’t wait to start them!

I bought a copy of We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson from a used bookstore. I haven’t read many classics or much horror, so this should be an interesting Halloween read!
